"It is hard to get good advice in this Type-2 diabetes matter. Diabetes is a massive "feeder" disease. Eye doctors, skin doctors, feet doctors, kidney doctors and others might go broke if we fixed it. The real problem is that the main way to really fix it is to skinny America up. You probably know how to do that - the choice between that pie and eventual blindness."      -John White

According to Willpower Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength a new book by Roy F. Baumeister and John Tierney (Hardcover, 291 pages) we have a finite amount of will power.  Its governed by a part of the brain that can be trained and enhanced with practice.  Example:  Leaving the fruit bowl on the kitchen table likely makes you hungrier, than if it were in the cupboard.  Now that football has started up again and your editor is therefore watching a bit of TV, he notices that it is harder to stay non-hungry than it was before the season started.  Reason is probably that food is advertised on TV.  And shown it an attractive, appetizing format.  Pretty soon the TV is likely to give us smells, the smell for example of fresh-baked bread.

If you want to lose weight, don't have food where you can view it and turn off the TV.  Conserve your will power.  If any of you read Willpower, let us know what you think in the forums.

Some are paying attention to your editor's weight and bloodsugar states, published elsewhere on this page.  Are you?  Your devoted editor is considering how and when to let his loyal followers know what he has done to fix his diabetes, assuming arguendo that that is what has happened. Stay tuned.

Rather than bore those who kindly follow your editors (see "Editor's 2011 Stats" below) travails with the details, we will wait and see.  As those who keep up with your editor's blood sugar statistics (elsewhere on this page) know, your editor's diets to date have not solved the problem of his high blood sugar.  If this new diet works, he will file a report.  Stay tuned.  Your editor will report back in a week or so, provided the diet doesn't kill him in the interim.

Is there some way we can quantify the old saw to the effect that "Exercise lowers your bloodsugar"?  In short, do we have any members who a) have been keeping record of their blood sugar, b) have not been doing much exercise c) are willing to begin a strenuous exercise regime of at least one hour a day, and d) willing to report their post-exercise program blood sugar reports in the bloodsugar.com forums?

No formal organization needed.  Just begin posting in the forums.
